Bannack Ghost Town

Our class had a day long photo excursion to an old Ghost town in Bannack, Montana an old gold rush town. We took photos all day regardless of the poor weather conditions. We focused on getting shots with slow shutter, shallow depth of field, portrait, and HDR.

Edits: adjusted curves then added a multiply blending mode then masked out the middle so it gave it a darker vignette

Edits: added black and white, added sepia @ 100%, then added solid tan color and reduces opacity to about 20%. and finally added a texture masked out the middle and left the outside for a border.

Edits: Adjusted curves, adjusted levels and masked out everything above the grass, added a sepia photo filter at 84% and masked out the grass.

Edits: I added black and white, photo filter sepia at 100%, 30% opacity beige color fill, added texture and masked out gavel and his face.

Edits: I adjusted levels and masked out everything above the fence, adjusted curves, and pulled out the reds with selective color.

Edits: Adjusted levels and masked out the sky, added a texture and masked out the truck and sky, added a Sepia photo filter with 85%, and lastly I added a selective color and brought out the red.

Edits:I first adjusted the curves then masked out the sky, then adjusted the brightness to +65 and brought down the contrast to -50 then masked out the sky again, the last touch I made was adding the overlay blending mode and then masked out everything below the sky.

  1. Great job on your bannack photos! I think they all turned out awesome. I particularly like the spiderweb and the portrait. I like how the light makes the spiderweb stand out well and I like how you can see Jason's face well enough that you can tell who he is but the gavel is all that is really in focus. Well done!

  2. I love your Bannack photos! I love the shot of Jason in the hat with the gavel. The effect is really neat. You also have great ideas for composition, etc. You can tell that you have been doing this for a while. Keep up the good work!

  3. Lindsey, Your photos are great to begin with, but I really like the effects and filters you add to them.
    Great composition on the first photo the doorknob. and then my other favorites are a fall snow and then bannack house. I love the sepia filter on the first and then how the fence door is such a focal point in the second. Nice photos!

  6. You did such a great job with these images. I am really impressed with your editing skills as well. I never would have thought to make only part of the image sepia. Good job overall
